Reporting Fraud
  1. Internet Crime Center (ic3) – This bureau is run by the FBI. Consumer reports assist them to investigate complex financial white collar and cyber-crimes. You’ll need to complete this step before contacting the credit reporting agencies.
  2. Federal Trade Commission – In addition to its fraud reporting function, this website also contains helpful information to help consumers avoid scams. (Note – as of 10-1-25 this agency is closed due to the government shutdown.)
  3. Abilene Teachers FCU Fraud Department – 325-677-2274 or 800-677-6770
  4. Equifax Credit Bureau – 888-378-4329
  5. Experian Credit Bureau – 888-397-3742
  6. Transunion Credit Bureau – 800-680-7289
  7. Your local police department
Stay Aware of Fraudulent Schemes
  1. The Online Security page of the ATFCU contains a link to Stickley on Security.  Stickley is the company the credit union uses for employee security education. Their newsletter is comprehensive and timely.
  2. The Federal Trade Commission’s website is another that contains a wide variety of information for consumers wishing to educate themselves.
  3.  Consumer Reports publishes a Scam and Fraud Protection Guide annually for their subscribers.  It’s available digitally and in print and is easily worth the $35 annual subscription charge.
