The youth savings accounts described below can be established with an opening deposit of $5 or more. There is never a monthly fee or minimum deposit requirement for these accounts. Dividends are payed at current ATFCU savings rates.

Savings Safari
Have fun saving
- For children from birth to age 12
- At age 5, your child will complete a signature card and receive a gift bag
- Members 5 and older will receive a Safari Buck for each $5 saved when the child is present at the time of deposit. Bucks can be redeemed for prizes in our lobby locations and/or for passes to Prime Time or the Abilene Zoo.
- Savings Safari accounts transition to youth accounts on your child’s 13th birthday.

Skills for Life Teen Account
Earn & spend with oversight
- Gradually enables your child to assume financial responsibility.
- Teens can open a checking account at age 15. (A cosigner is needed until age 18.)
- With a co-signer, teens aged 16+ can apply for loans and/or low limit credit cards.
- This account guarantees eligibility for ATFCU’s scholarship program.

Texas Uniform Gift to Minors - TUTMA
Make a gift to a child or grandchild
- Specialized savings account set up for a minor by a member older than 21 who serves as the account custodian.
- The custodian retains full control of the account until the minor turns 21.
- A TUTMA account can be converted to a Savings Safari or Skills for Life account by the custodian.

Youth accounts can be opened in our lobby locations. Please remember to bring your own Social Security card and your child’s Social Security card. If your child is 5 years old or older, he/she will also need to be present to sign their signature card.
