Individual Retirement Accounts

Eligibility and contribution requirements for IRA's change frequently, so we encourage you to check with an ATFCU Member Services Representative for the most up to date information on your retirement planning options. For those really complex situations, please ask for one of our certified IRA specialists.

The following is a brief description of the IRA's we offer. Detailed brochures are available in our branches or can be mailed to you upon request.

Traditional IRA

For members looking for a way to manage their own retirement savings, or to supplement an existing retirement savings plan, the Traditional IRA is a great pre-tax option for retirement savings.

Roth IRA

The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 introduced the Roth IRA with its after-tax contributions. It has more generous withdrawal conditions and is an attractive alternative to the traditional IRA.

Use these calculators to determine which IRA is best for you.

Coverdell Education Savings IRA

Worried about paying for your child's education? A Coverdell IRA can be a smart way to save.

Although contributions to a Coverdell IRA aren't tax deductible, your withdrawals (including earnings) are tax-free if used for tuition, books and other qualified higher-education costs such as computer equipment.

And a Coverdell IRA isn't just for college expenses. Distributions can also be used for elementary and high school expenses at most public, private and parochial schools.
