There are three types of overdraft protection at ATFCU that can help prevent insufficient funds charges to your checking account. The descriptions below will enable you to choose the best one(s) for your needs.

Overdraft Transfer

If you do not have enough money in your checking account to pay a check or a debit card transaction, money will be automatically shifted from your savings account to your checking account. There is no fee for this convenient service. Contact a Member Services representative to complete the paperwork.

Personal Line of Credit

This is a pre-approved loan that gives you the ability to borrow money when you need it, and pay interest only on the amount actually used. It can be used for overdraft protection. You’ll find more information on our Personal Loans page.

Courtesy Pay

This service protects you from life’s unexpected emergencies. Should an enrolled member overdraft their account, Abilene Teachers FCU will cover the overdrafts up to a $600 maximum. This figure includes the insufficient funds fee of $25 per item.

When your checking account is eligible for Courtesy Pay (generally after 6 months of responsible management) we will mail you a form asking if you wish to enroll. If you’re interested, simply complete the form and return it to us.
